Determining the right size of hoofboots yourself is easy with the fitkits that you can request from us. The manufacturers of the hoofboots have designed these to help you find the right size hoof boots for your horse's hooves. This prevents wasted time and effort of buying and returning multiple hoof boots. A fitkit for hoofboots consists of fitting shells and/or fitting soles. Fitkits from various brands can be sent to you, so that you can try them on at your leisure. For logistical reasons, this service is only available for Belgium and the Netherlands.
A fitkit is only used to determine the right size. You cannot use them for riding or testing; this is possible with test/rental boots, see link. The cost of a fitkit is € 40. This consists of a deposit of € 30 for three sizes and € 10 processing costs. Most horses fall within one or two sizes.
Step-by-step plan:
1. Measure the hooves correctly, see link. The dimensions of the hooves determine which sizes are needed to fit. Also see the size charts for the fitkits and hoofboots of the different brands that you prefer, and at the bottom of this text for the brand / model of this page.
2. Then order the fitkit. We advise to order one size larger and one size smaller. If the hooves in size 2 seem to fit according to the size chart, order size 1, 2 and 3. Please note that horses often need a larger and rounder size on the front hooves and a slightly smaller and narrower size on the back hooves. You may need two fitkits, one for the front hooves and one for the back hooves.
3. The fitkits usually rotate on Wednesdays/Thursdays, so that you have plenty of time to try them on during the weekend. After receiving the fitkit, you have about five days to try them on. You must then return the fitkit to us at your own expense. In case of a much too late return, we will deduct € 5 per week from your deposit. Fitkits that are returned to us with missing, broken or dirty parts will be refunded minus the costs to clean and repair them.
4. A form is enclosed with the fitkit, on the back of which you can indicate how you want to receive the deposit back:
Do not forget to return this form with the fitkit! We cannot convert your deposit or refund it to you until we have received the fitkit back. Please keep the track & trace of your return in a safe place.
5. If you are unsure about the right size, you can always rent the hoofboots first to test them, see link. The principle of the rental and test shoes is also based on paying a deposit.
If you have any questions, also about fitting, please feel free to ask us. We can be reached by phone from Monday to Friday between 9:30 and 13:00. You can also send us photos of the fitting, so that we can take a look with you. You can send these by email or What's App, whichever you find easiest. You can find our contact details here. On working days we often respond the same day, but no later than the next working day.
