MEASURING THE HOOF

General:
It’s recommended to measure the hoof immediately or at the latest within 2 weeks after trimming. Measure the width and length as in the picture below: only the part that’s in contact with the floor (not the bulb of the heel).

Tip:
Place the hoof on cardboard. Follow the shape of the hoof with a pen and mark it tightly. This must be very accurate - again note the back of the hoof, do not measure the bulb of the heel. Cut the shape out of the cardboard and place on the hoof to check if it’s correct.
